National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
This year, to honor Orange Shirt Day and the new statutory holiday Truth and Reconciliation Day, Leadership students worked with the Indigenous Education department to create a display of Teddy Bears. The teddy bears are significant because bears represent courage and bravery and they have become a symbol of the lost children discovered at Residential School cites all over the country this year.

Tour De Rock (Cops for Cancer
On Wednesday, September 29th, the annual Tour De Rock came to Langford on their final leg of the ride for child cancer research, and our staff and students came out to support the riders with enthusiastic cheering.
As well, on Saturday, October 2nd, we will be hosting a bottle drive at Belmont School to support Tour de Rock (Cops for Cancer). Bring your bottles and cans to the Belmont parking lot, between 10 am and 2pm, to help fundraise for this worthy cause!

Recognizing our Custodial, Maintenance and Facilities Staff
On October 2nd we celebrate our incredible custodians, maintenance and facilities staff who are working tirelessly each day to ensure our schools and buildings are cleaned, sanitized, running smoothly and looking amazing.
On top of the regular requests and new projects, these last two school years have seen complete change, increased resources and cleaning measures. Not only have they had to change what might have been normal before, but they have done so seamlessly and adapted quickly. Their resiliency and positive attitudes show in our schools to students and staff, and we’re very proud of that.
From our Board of Education and all of us at SD62, a sincere and heartfelt thank you. Thank you for setting a great work ethic and example, and above all, for helping to keep students and fellow colleagues healthy and safe.
