Celebrating the official opening…

On April 9th, we hosted the official opening for our new culinary program and in addition we celebrated the opening of our new turf field.  Members of our SD62 Board of Trustees, Sr. Leadership Team, Aboriginal Ed. Team, City of Langord Council Members,  District and City Facilities staff, students and staff took the time to recognize the tremendous generosity of both the City of Langford for our new turf, and to our District for their support in constructing the teaching kitchen for our future chefs.  Our students and staff are truly grateful and fortunate for the resources we have access to.  Thank You!

Bali Service Trip – BELMONT GISP

A group of 13 Belmont students participated in a service trip for 2 weeks during spring break in Bali, Indonesia. They attended Green Camp for a 9 day adventure filled experience where they practiced mindfulness, did yoga, learned about the Balinese culture by participating in ceremonies, drumming, dancing and singing. They went on Rice field walks, visited an organic farm, created a garden community, built bamboo railings for the camp, planted coral, discussed sustainability at length, explored mangroves, cleaned up the beaches and streets of trash, taught at a middle school about Canadian culture and so much more.

Huge congratulations to all 13 students who were great ambassadors to Canada and Belmont. (Josie S., Derek D., Anna W., Shae S., Emma B., Kim S., Kyla K., Riley M., Caitlin W., Emily C., Akshay B., Jacob T., Spencer L.)

Please take a look at the pictures showing our many adventures. Please encourage them to share their learning with you as it may suit your course.
