  • April 15-18 Graduation Assessments
  • April 19th – Pro D Day – no students in Session

The Climbing Academy

In collaboration with Boulder House, is thrilled to announce a special “bring a friend” event happening throughout the month of April during A and B block. This exclusive event offers students in grades 9-11 the opportunity to try climbing for free!

Important Details:

  • Limited spots available; visits will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Each student can attend the event once.
  • Participation is subject to your child’s A or B teacher’s approval to miss the block.

Sports Updates

Congrats to the Senior Boys Basketball Team who finished in third place at the Island Championship. Losing only to the 1st and 2nd ranked teams in the province (Oak Bay and Spectrum).

Congrats to Senior boys players Lance C, Ryder G. and Maddox G. who will represent Belmont in the Senior all star games on April 6th.

The Senior Girls basketball team finished in 5th place on the Island. Grade 12 Alexie B. was named an All star

Congrats to Senior Girls Alexie B., Chelsea T., and Alison T. along with junior girls Corah B., Alecia T., and Kyla B. who will represent Belmont at their respective all star games April 5th and 6th 

The Junior girls were the first to kickoff with a cross Westshore clash vs Royal Bay in which they tied 1-1. Reese H. scored the Bull dogs first goal of the season on a Penalty kick. 

The Spring Athletic Season is upon us with Ultimate Frisbee, Jr Girls Soccer, Sr Girls and Boys Rugby 7s, Golf, Track and Field, Badminton, and Mountain Biking all set to begin their seasons.

Community support is vital to making this event a success. We have a couple of ways you can get involved as a sponsor:

1. Donate a prize or gift card(s) to be given to Grads.  Our hope is to have a gift card or prize for each Grad attending.  We welcome any denomination of gift card(s) and any size of gift.

2.  Become an event sponsor by providing a monetary donation.  All donations over $25 qualify for a tax receipt.  Please make any cheque payable to “SD62” and put “Belmont Dry Grad” in the reference line.

SUMMER DOCKYARD APPRENTICESHIPS – Grades 11 & 12

Royal Canadian Navy’s Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton (FMFCB) which is located in the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt is looking to hire students for their Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP). This program is available to high school students in grades 11 & 12 who have an interest in working in the unique trades to support repair work to the naval fleet. These civilian positions allow students to become familiar with the work related to the various trade disciplines supporting ship repair work on the west coast, and provides 8 weeks of paid work experience supporting the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN). Applications will be accepted for the following trades; Metal Trades (e.g., Metal Fabrication, Sheet Metal and Welding), Hull Trades (e.g., Shipwright/Joiner, Painter, Lagger/Heat & Frost and Rigger), Machinist and Millwright. These Bursaries are prioritized and awarded based on financial need, community
involvement, scholarship and military/RCMP affiliation. A lack of military/RCMP affiliation
will not exclude applicants who meet all other criteria. Short-listed candidates will be

interviewed prior to final selection(s).
